Life in Black and White

Last summer a friend of mine had a large flea market sale on her farm. There were a large amount of dealers there, and her farm is a wonderful place full of photo opportunities.

One of the dealers there had lots of iron work. I thought these tables made an interesting photo.

I took this photo in my home. I love the old white harvest table that I have in my mudroom. I had just went out in the garden and picked some peonies and decided to take a photo of them. I chose to put the picture in black and white and leave the peonies in color. I really like how this photo shows off the peonies.

Inner Beauty

We should gain more by letting ourselves be seen such as we are, than by attempting to appear what we are not.

I took this picture last summer of a white peony in my garden. I used a Cannon power shot A590 with my macro lens. Sorry but I can't remember where I had the aperture set.

New Zealand

Several post ago I posted some pictures from my trip to New Zealand, and I thought it would be nice to feature some from time to time. Here are a few more to enjoy from my trip.

When we were out boating off the Auckland bay my mom took this picture. I love the color of the water.

I cropped it to get this close up of the sail. Then I enlarged it and had it framed. It now hangs in my home as a memory of the great time that I had with my mom and dad on the water that day.

Picture of me walking along the beach. I could have stayed out there all day!
If I could live anywhere I would live by the ocean!

Winter Enchantment

The first fall of snow is not only and event, but it's a magic event.
You go to bed in one kind of world and wake up to find yourself in another quite different,
and if this is not enchantment,
then where is it to be found?  J.B. Priestley

Ok I know this is not the first fall of snow, but i love this poem and couldn't wait to share it.

My iron bench outside my back door. Notice I didn't take my pillows in before winter? I like the way they add a little bit of color under the snow.

Self Rewards

I love this little foot stool! It's so worn and primitive. I found it at an antique store about a year ago and didn't buy it. To my surprise it was still there a few weeks ago when I went back. I picked it up an carried it around and then decided I REALLY didn't need it. However, my daughter and friend convinced me to buy it. They knew how much I loved it and I really think they didn't want to hear me on the way home saying how much I wished I would of bought it.

So I gave in to peer pressure!

I love the tassel

the iron legs

and the hooking on the top.  It has found a place in my home!

Happy Hearts Day!

Happy Valentines Day!
I hope everyone enjoys this special day and can spend it with someone important to you! I started my day with leaving some candy and a note on my kids bed telling them that I love them. Then to my suprise my hubby left me a dozen yellow roses, russell stover candies and a case of  sweet necter from the gods (diet coke)! He truly knows how to win my heart!

The day is beautiful! Enjoy!

Dirty Little Secrets

Everyboday that knows me, knows how much I hate doing laundry. Not really hates it, but REALLY dislikes it. It's the part where I have to go down into my badly needs remodled basement. You know the ones with the knotty pine paneling, the old asphalt tiles, and the ugly 1960's lighting. It's dark, dingy and on our list to remodel next but next can't come soon enough!

So I have some dirty little secrets to tell.

I wait untill no body has anything left to wear.

My husband has actually went out and bought new socks because I needed to wash. God forbid he wash them himself!

Sometimes, I wash a load and then forget it untill it smells funny and then i have to rewash it again. Ummmm.. this one is hard to admit!

My laundry room doesn't look like this!

or this

or even this

I would LOVE it to look like this!

Now this is a cute idea for a shelf.

Someday... Untill then I can dream and keep looking for inspiration!

New Zealand

The other day I posted a picture of a green bus in Auckland NZ and ever since I visited I have wanted to go back. There is just something about that place, friends left behind, the culture, the warmth, the beauty that has settled in my soul. So I decided from time to time to post pictures from my travels there. I hope they inspire you as they have me. Enjoy!

Blossom from Pahutuka tree

I found this pahutuka tree in one of the parks. I love the narlyness of the roots. (is narlyness even a word? Well it fits and I think you'll agree).

Love it in black and white too!

The only place to park in downtown Auckland!

Go Green

After all of these snow days we've had. I am craving a little bit of green.
