It's another cold and rainy day here. As I'm sitting in the sun room making out my sons graduation announcements, I can hear the sound of the rain as it hits the skylight above me. I start to reminisce about my sons playing out in the rain, and it brings to mind one of my favorite pictures that I took of them playing in the rain. UGH do you think I could find it?
so.........I browsed on line and found some from National Geographic.
I hope these bring a smile to your face as they did mine!
I love this one!
This one reminds me of my boys. Everyone busy around them trying to get thinks done yet he is so carefree!
I hope all of you enjoyed your holiday with family and loved ones. Last night I was looking on line for some festive table decorations and thought I would share with you some of my favorites. I have a large family and we always set up our meal "buffet style". I have always thought it would be fun to sit down to a wonderfully decorated table for the holidays.
I love these little egg cups!
I have seen them at Pier one and Walmart for around a $1.00. You can also find vintage ones at antique malls. I own some Lu Ray Pastel eggs cups that are slightly larger and are great for decorating in the spring. You can sometimes find the Lu Ray egg cups on EBay.
Hmmmm....could I keep my grand kids from eating the chocolate bunnies!
(all above photos from Martha Stewart)
Love this one too!
I would love to sit down to this Easter table.

I thought this was also a cute idea.
The possibilities are endless. All you need is a little inspiration and imagination!
“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.” John Muir
I finally got out into the garden today. The sun was shining and the weather a little warmer. I raked leaves, cut back old growth, and pruned my roses.
When it finally got to dark to see any longer, I came in and looked over pictures from my garden last year.
I am looking forward to sitting in the garden with a good book or having a cold diet coke with a friend.
This is a picture of part of my garden from last year. The cupola at the back of the garden was a Christmas gift from my husband. It used to be on the old Ethan Allen furniture store. When they remodeled it was sitting with all of the construction materials and a friend of ours was driving by and ask what they had planned for it. They ask him if he was interested in buying it. Of course he knew I would love it so.... he bought it and sold it to my husband!
While browsing through and antique store the other day, I looked up and behind a pile of things I saw this cute little concrete dog!
My heart started to race as I carefully took him down from his resting place. I looked him over and found no price. I told myself not to seem too interested and not too anxious as I asked the owner the price. I couldn't believe my ears! Did I hear her right? $15.00? Sold!
My darling little frenchie now has found a home in my kitchen where I can admire her.
I also picked up another bread board for my collection for $6.00!
I have had a week off of work and I was really wanting to get out in my garden. There is so much to do. I still haven't even started my spring cleanup in my main perennial garden. This whole week it has been cold, rainy and the sun has disappeared.
I want to add a mixed border on the south side of my home. I have a large side yard that is on a busy street. The mixed border will add some privacy along with some curb appeal.
So far here are some of my shrub choices. These are not all definite, but gives me a good place to start.
What could be better than lilacs?
I had a large established shrub at my old home just outside the kitchen window. The fragrance coming through my window in the spring was heavenly!
When I see the forsythia shrubs starting to bloom, I know spring is not far behind.
The branches can be cut and brought in early and forced to bloom.
Red Twig Dogwood
I love the color of the red twigs in the winter. These are great for cutting and using in arrangements too!
and of course I will need some evergreen. I found these at a local nursery and loved how unusual they look.
for a real stand out..Giant Fleece Flower
This shrub is so impressieve in a aborder and reminds me of astible. A word to the wise though it's fragrance is not so pretty! This shrub also makes me sneeze like crazy but...the beauty of it is worth it!
So I have a week off from work and I decided to get out in my garden and start my spring cleanup. Only problem is that it is cold and rainy today. So once again it will be put off until another day. In the meantime I will enjoy some virtual gardening!
One of my goals this summer is to make a potting area for myself. I have always wanted a greenhouse or potting shed, however I don't have the room in my small yard.
I have been looking online for some inspiration and came up with these ideas so far.
I would love to find a table to use. I really would like it to be in the garden but it wouldn't have much protection from the elements. Maybe I can talk my husband into a small space in the garage.
I would love to hear from you. What works for you? Please share your pictures and ideas!
