It's a Beautiful Day~I'm in the Garden.....

In my garden there is a large place for sentiment. My garden of flowers is also my garden of thoughts and dreams. The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers, and the dreams are as beautiful. ~Abram L. Urban

It's a beautiful day and I'm spending it in the garden. I was out early just as the sun was coming up. Well...actually the sun isn't shining, it's cloudy 54 degrees and a nice breeze, but beautiful. I weeded, deadheaded, and moved a few plants to a better place in the garden.

I still need to get fresh mulch down. I just haven't got around to that yet. So just ignore the muddy path!

everything is so lush and green with all of the rain we have had

My hostas took a beating with the hail (and my car) but everything else came out OK.

My last delphinium to bloom. I will miss them when they are gone!

I love my copper water can! It gets better with age!

OOps!! This isn't in my garden, but I wish it was!

Blooming Today~Stokes Aster

Every year I look forward to my Stokes Aster to bloom. This morning as I was taking a walk through my gardens, I was greeted with a wonderful bloom.

The 3-4 inch fringed flowers range from blue, lavender, pink and white. Stoke Asters bloom from July-October.

Their flower heads are shaggy and similar to Bachelor Buttons.

They form low rosettes of foliage 1-2 feet in diameter with upright stems and evergreen basal leaves..

They make excellent long lasting cut flowers
Deadhead to encourage bloom
Well drained soil
Full sun to partial shade
Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies
No serious insects of disease
Hardy zones 5-9

Plant combinations:
lambs ear

New use for and Old Bowl

I just got back from spending the day at a wonderful flea market. I bought a few things for my many collections, which I will post later this week. But for today I want to show you this cool bowl I found for $4.00!

I love the texture! The bowl is marked on the bottom but, most of it is worn off and I can't quite make it out. The bowl is really quite heavy. I thought it was a steal at 4 bucks!

I love the handles!

It has found a home on my kitchen island. I filled it with potpourri and placed an herb in the middle.

I also put in two of my brushes from my brush collection. I think it adds a little more interest.

Nelly's Nest Spring Show

Well my daughter's show was so much fun! The tents went up without any problem the night before.

Don't pay attention to my shadow in the pic! Ha ha!
Todd's booth had wonderful vintage garden furniture!

It turned out to be a beautiful day!
She had a wonderful turnout. The local
paper even had a very nice article about her show and her shop! I am soooo proud of her!

I wanted to get pictures of her with each dealer but....she was so busy it was hard to catch her. I did manage to snap these.

Janelle and Eric

Janelle and Todd

Cammie and Paula taking a break to visit

Welcome to Nelly's Nest!
Just a few shots from her store.

Janelle carries great primitives, candles and folk art

love these folk art watermelons!

Great journals

folk art

and now... some of my favorite shots from the show!

I fell in love with this little cheese box tool cabinet! I wish it could of come home with me!

Eva had lots of primitives and homemade soy candles.

Paula from Red Door Primitives makes wonderful handmade folk art!
I heard she will soon be featured in an upcoming popular magazine!
I am so happy for you Paula!

Todd and Eric had some really cool retro patio furniture! It was sold before I got around to taking these pictures! I think he went home with a pretty empty trailer!

Kendra is opening a store next door to my daughter. Her store, The Goods will feature vintage and industrial antiques. Her grand opening is in July.
The next four pictures I took in her store.

This photo brings a smile to my face. Vintage bedding and children's clothes.
Where's Waldo?

I also fell in Love with this chair and pink dresser!

I really think the chair and pink dresser would look nice in my guest room!
One problem.....I don't have a guest room!
Right now my future guest room is being occupied by my son. Hmmmm...don't think he would appreciate the pink dresser like I do!

Cammie's booth was FULL of inspiration!
I bought a neat sign for my husband. I will post it later.

What a neat idea for this old coke cooler. It now can be used for a kitchen island.

So Cammie, is this going in your home now?

some really cool belts!

I was told the person who bought these, is having a baby and naming him
Pretty cool huh?
